Keyword Search is a case-level tool accessed from the Case Menu (not from the settings panels). Enter one or more keywords separated by commas, search across all files in the case, review individual matches with page references, and selectively apply redactions. For single-file keyword search, see the Redaction section.
How to access keyword search
Open the Case Menu in the top navigation bar and select Keyword Search. A slide-in panel opens on the right side of the screen. This tool isn't in the settings dialog.
Running a keyword search
Enter one or more keywords in the text field, separated by commas. For example, "John Smith, SSN, confidential" searches for three separate terms. Click Search or press Enter to start the search. The search scans every file in the case and returns all matches.
Reviewing keyword search matches
Results are grouped by keyword. Each keyword header shows the term and a count of selected matches versus total matches (for example, "2/3 selected"). Click a keyword to expand it and see individual matches.
Each match shows its page number and a context snippet. You can:
- Toggle individual matches - Use the checkbox next to each match to include or exclude it from redaction.
- Select All / Deselect All - Quickly select or deselect all matches for a keyword.
- Jump to page - Click a match to navigate directly to its location in the document viewer.
- Remove a keyword - Click the close icon on a keyword header to remove it and all its matches from the results.
Keyword search deduplication feedback
If any matches overlap with existing redactions, the panel displays a deduplication summary showing how many matches were already redacted. This prevents double-redacting the same content and keeps your review efficient.
Applying keyword search redactions
After reviewing matches, apply selected matches as redactions. Only matches with their checkbox enabled get redacted. This gives you granular control -- redact specific instances while leaving others untouched. For a full guide on keyword-based redaction workflows, see batch redaction.
