The Details panel lets you edit the case title and description at any time. The title appears throughout the application and must be between 1 and 255 characters. The description supports up to 2,000 characters and is optional.

Case title in case settings

The Case Title field is required and identifies your case throughout Hintyr. It appears in the dashboard case list, the top navigation bar when a case is open, and in exported documents. The title must be between 1 and 255 characters.

Choose a descriptive title that helps your team quickly identify the matter. Common conventions include the case name, matter number, or a combination of both.

Case description in case settings

The Case Description field is optional and supports up to 2,000 characters. Use it to record context about the matter, such as the scope of the document review, key dates, or instructions for team members. The description is visible to all case members.

Saving changes

After editing the title or description, click Save to apply your changes. If you haven't modified either field, the Save button stays disabled. Leading and trailing whitespace is trimmed automatically.

Frequently asked questions

Is the case title visible to discovery portal users?
No. Discovery portal users see the portal name configured in the Share Portal panel, not the internal case title.
Can I leave the description empty?
Yes. The description is optional and can be left blank or cleared at any time.
Does changing the title affect file exports?
The title may appear in export headers depending on the export format. Updating the title will reflect in future exports but will not modify previously generated files.
