The Discovery Access section of the Export Wizard lets you invite external users to view and download production files through the Discovery Portal. Pick which users get access, then configure folder-level permissions to control what each person can see.
How production discovery access works
The Discovery Portal provides a secure environment for external parties to access production files. When you invite a discovery user from the Export Wizard, they receive an email invitation with a link to the portal. Once they accept the invitation, they can view and download the files you have authorized them to access.
Inviting discovery users to access production files
Enter the user's email address in the invitation form and click Send Invite. The invitation appears in the Pending tab until the user accepts. You can resend an invitation if it expires or revoke it if you no longer want to grant access. Expired invitations are marked with an "Expired" badge.
Production folder permissions for discovery users
When you invite a user, assign folder-level permissions that control which production folders they can reach. Each folder can be view-only (see and download) or view-and-upload (add files too). This gives you the granularity to share only the relevant portions of a production with each recipient.
Managing existing discovery users
The Discovery Users tab shows all users who have accepted their invitations and currently have access. From here you can:
- Edit permissions - Click the edit icon to update a user's folder permissions after they have been granted access.
- Remove a user - Click the delete icon to revoke a user's access entirely. Their previously uploaded files remain in the case.
Skipping discovery access during production export
This section is optional. If you don't need to grant external access right now, skip it and move on. You can always invite discovery users later through Case Settings under the Discovery Portal tab.
