The Discovery Portal lets you share specific document sets with external parties -- opposing counsel, co-counsel, or expert witnesses. Recipients see a simplified interface without needing an organization membership, and you control exactly which tags they can view or upload to.
What is the Discovery Portal?
Every Hintyr case includes a built-in Discovery Portal. You can invite external parties to view and, optionally, upload documents to specific tags. Unlike organization members who have full access to all case features, discovery users see a simplified interface built for document exchange.
Discovery users don't need to belong to your organization. There's no limit on the number you can invite, and discovery seats are free. Each user receives tag-level permissions that you can adjust at any time.
Common discovery portal use cases
- Producing to opposing counsel - Share production sets directly with the other side. They can view and download documents without accessing your work product or AI analysis.
- Sharing with co-counsel - Give partner firms access to specific document categories while keeping privileged materials separate.
- Expert witness review - Allow experts to view relevant documents and upload their reports to a designated tag.
- Client collaboration - Let clients review selected documents without exposing the full case workspace.
Key discovery portal characteristics
- No organization membership required - Anyone with a valid email can be invited. They sign in with any authenticated account.
- Tag-level permissions - Control View and Upload access per tag for each user.
- Simplified interface - Discovery users see only the document browser and viewer. They don't have access to AI chat, notes, redaction tools, or case settings.
- Unlimited free seats - Invite as many discovery users as needed at no additional cost.
- File version priority - Discovery users automatically see the best available version of each file. Redacted versions take priority over Bates-stamped versions, which take priority over originals.
