Document viewer issues are typically caused by files still processing, rendering delays with large files, or browser compatibility. This guide covers the most common viewing problems and their fixes.
Document viewer shows blank or won't load
If a document opens but the viewer shows a blank area, work through these steps:
- Check processing status. Open the document browser and look for the processing indicator next to the file. If it's still processing, the viewer can't display it yet. Wait for processing to finish.
- Close and reopen the file. Close the viewer tab and reopen the file from the document browser. This forces a fresh load of the rendition.
- Refresh the page. A full page refresh clears cached state that may be causing the blank display.
- Check your browser. Hintyr works best in up-to-date versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. If you're on an older version, try updating.
Slow document loading in the viewer
Large files, particularly PDFs with 100+ pages, may take a few seconds to fully render. This is expected, not a bug. The viewer loads pages progressively, so you can start reading the first pages while the rest load in the background.
If loading times are consistently long for all files, check your internet speed. The viewer streams content from the server, so a slow connection means slower rendering across all documents.
Viewer displays the wrong document
In rare cases, the viewer may show content that doesn't match the selected file. This can happen when the browser has cached a previous document session. To fix it:
- Close and reopen the file. Select the correct file from the document browser to start a fresh session.
- Clear browser cache. If the problem persists, clear your browser cache and reload.
- Re-upload the file. If the content still looks wrong after clearing cache, the file may have hit a processing error. Delete and re-upload it to trigger fresh processing.
