Exporting Notes

Last updated: 2026-03-23

Export your case notes to share work product with colleagues or include document review findings in reports. Print directly or use the export options in the notes menu.

Case notes export options

Open the note you want to export and click the menu button in the notes panel. The menu has export options that let you download the note or send it to a printer. Each option preserves the formatting you applied, including headings, lists, tables, bold text, and other styles.

Exporting is useful when you need to share analysis with people who do not have access to the case, such as clients, outside counsel, or experts. It also helps create point-in-time snapshots of your work product before a court filing or at the close of a review phase.

You can export both group and private notes. Any case member with access can export a group note. For private notes, only the creator can export.

Printing case notes

The print option sends the note to your browser's print dialog, where you can choose a printer or save to PDF. It's a quick way to produce a formatted document from your notes. The print layout uses clean margins and preserves your formatting.

The note title appears at the top of the printed page. Headings keep their sizing, lists display with proper indentation, and tables render with visible borders. The printed version closely matches what you see in the editor.

To print, open the note, click the menu button, and select print. Your browser's standard print dialog opens, where you choose the printer, adjust page settings, and confirm.

Formatting preservation in exported notes

Exported and printed notes keep the rich text formatting you applied in the editor. This includes:

  • Text styles - Bold, italic, underline, and strikethrough formatting is preserved.
  • Headings - Heading levels render with appropriate font sizes and weight.
  • Lists - Bullet and numbered lists maintain their structure and indentation.
  • Tables - Table rows, columns, and cell content export with visible borders and alignment.
  • Text alignment - Left, center, and right alignment is carried over to the exported output.
  • Highlights - Highlighted text retains its background color in the export.

This means your exported notes look clean and readable. You can share them with clients, attach them to reports, or use them as starting points for formal work product deliverables. The formatting closely matches what you see on screen. Note that court filings typically require specific formatting standards, so exported notes may need additional formatting adjustments before filing.
