Large Batches

You can upload hundreds or even thousands of files to Hintyr in one batch. Uploads are resumable, files transfer in parallel, and each file can be up to 4.5 GB.

Uploading large collections of files

Document review often means working with large volumes of data. Custodian collections and document repositories can contain thousands of individual files. Hintyr is built to handle these workloads, and you don't need any special configuration to get started.

When you add a large batch, Hintyr queues your files and uploads them in parallel. It manages transfer rates and memory usage automatically, so your browser should stay responsive while files transfer.

Resumable uploads

Resumability matters when you upload large volumes of files. If your internet connection drops or your device goes to sleep mid-transfer, you don't have to start over.

Once your connection is back, return to the case and re-select the same files from your device through the upload dialog. Hintyr detects which parts already transferred and picks up where it left off. This is especially helpful for large files like email archives, where restarting would waste significant time.

File size limits

Each file you upload can be up to 4.5 GB. This covers many common file types in document review, including email archives (PST, MBOX) and multimedia files. However, some large PST archives or container files may exceed this limit. If that happens, split the archive into smaller segments before uploading.

There's no enforced cap on the number of files per upload or per case. Your total available storage depends on your plan. You can review your current plan and storage usage in Account Settings. Best practices for large batch uploads

Hintyr handles large batches automatically. That said, a few simple practices can help your uploads run even more smoothly:

  • Use a stable connection. A wired Ethernet connection is more reliable than Wi-Fi for transferring large volumes of files. If you're on Wi-Fi, stay within strong signal range during the upload.
  • Keep your browser tab open. Uploads are resumable, but keeping the tab open lets the transfer run without interruption. Avoid closing the tab or putting your computer to sleep while files are actively transferring.
  • Upload during low-traffic hours. If you share a network with many users, uploading during off-peak hours can improve transfer speeds.
  • Monitor the progress indicator. The progress indicator in the case view shows how many files have been uploaded and how many remain. Use it to track when your collection will be ready for review.
  • Assign custodians up front. If your files come from specific custodians, select them in the upload dialog before you start. Batch assignment is faster than tagging files one by one afterward. See how to assign custodians during document upload for details.

Parallel transfer and upload speed

Instead of uploading one file at a time, Hintyr transfers multiple files concurrently. This parallel approach reduces total transfer time, especially when your collection contains many small to medium-sized documents.

Hintyr manages the number of simultaneous transfers automatically so your network connection doesn't get overloaded. You don't need to adjust any settings.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a limit on the number of files in a batch upload?
There's no enforced cap on file count per upload or per case. Your total available storage depends on your plan. For exceptionally large collections, contact the Hintyr support team.
What if my upload is interrupted?
Hintyr uses resumable uploads. If your connection drops or your browser closes, return to the case and select the same files again through the upload dialog. The transfer picks up where it left off, and files that already finished won't be re-uploaded.
What is the maximum file size?
Each file can be up to 4.5 GB. That covers most common file types used in document review, including email archives and multimedia files.
Will a large batch upload slow down my browser?
Hintyr manages upload queuing and memory usage to minimize browser impact. You should be able to keep working in your case while files transfer in the background.
Can I upload files from multiple sources in one batch?
Yes. You can mix drag-and-drop, file browsing, folder browsing, and cloud import in any order. All files go through the same upload pipeline regardless of source.
