Downloading files from cloud storage just to re-upload them wastes time. With Hintyr, you connect Google Drive, OneDrive, Box, or Dropboxdirectly, sign in once, and select the files you need. Your selections transfer straight into yourcase with no local download step.

Supported cloud providers

You can connect four cloud storage services as ESI sources:

  • Google Drive -- Works with personal and Google Workspace accounts. You can collect from My Drive and Shared Drives.
  • Microsoft OneDrive -- Works with personal and Microsoft 365business accounts. You can collect from OneDrive folders and SharePoint document libraries.
  • Box -- Works with enterprise Box accounts. Browse and collect from any folder you have access to.
  • Dropbox -- Works with personal and Dropbox Business accounts. You can collect files from your Dropbox folders directly.

Connecting your cloud account

Before you collect files from a cloud provider, you need to sign inand grant Hintyr read access to your account. You typically do this once per provider, though you may need to sign in again if your session expires.

Steps to connect

  1. Open your case and go to the upload area.
  2. Click the icon for the cloud provider you want to connect (Google Drive, OneDrive, Box, or Dropbox).
  3. A sign-in window opens from the provider. Log in with the account that holds the files you want to collect.
  4. Review the permissions request. Hintyr asks for read-only access to browse and collect your files. It does not modify or delete anything in your cloud storage.
  5. Click Allow or Grant Access (wording varies by provider). The window closes and your cloud account is connected.

Browsing and selecting files

Once connected, you see a folder browser that mirrors your cloud storage. Browse your folders, check file names and sizes, and select the documents you want to collect into your case.

Click the checkbox next to each file or folder you want. Selecting a folder includes everything inside it, including subfolders. When you have made your selections, click the upload button to start the processing pipeline.

If you are working with custodian accounts that have deeply nested folders, use the search bar at the top of the browser to locate specific files.

Using connected accounts across cases

After you connect a cloud provider, your session stays active. You can switch between cases and collect from the same cloud account without signing in again.

If your session expires or you log out of Hintyr, you may need to sign in to the cloud provider again on your next visit. This protects access to your cloud-stored ESI.

Security and permissions

Hintyr asks for read-only permissions to browse andcollect your files. It does not ask for write, edit, or delete access to your cloud storage. The connection ties to your personal cloudaccount and your Hintyr session. Other team members on your organization cannot access your connected cloud accounts.

You can revoke Hintyr's access at any time through your provider's settings. In Google, go to Security and then Third-party apps. In Dropbox, look under Connected apps. Revoking access does not affect documents you already collected into your case.
